Tips for Printing Instagram Photos

Taking photos is central to Instagram, whether uploading a picture from your mobile or taking a snap for your Instagram story. Currently, there are approximately 1 billion active Instagram users – that’s a lot of photos!

Some of the best photos we take or edit are on Instagram, so it’s a shame to leave them on there and forget that they exist. We may scroll through the pictures on social media from time to time, but is it the same as flicking through printed photos?

There’s something about showing your photos to family and friends and having them on display at home. You can capture the moment again by looking at a physical photo, whether it’s in a photo book, framed on your wall or holding them, rather than staring at it on a screen.

Most photos uploaded to Facebook are taken on mobiles and still stored there to be printed at any time - but what about the ones you take on Instagram that aren’t stored on your phone? Without sounding like a broken record, it’s a shame to leave them when they could be printed and put on the wall or in a frame.

If you want to print your Instagram photos, here is Inkifi’s top tips.

Printing Instagram Photos – Things to Remember

While some photo printing services allow you to connect your Instagram account to upload pictures, you can still save the photos to your mobile first. Instagram has an option to save uploaded images to your phone automatically. To do this, go to your settings, click on your account followed by original photos, then tap to select “save original photos”.

Like with any photo printing, you need to decide on the pictures, the size and how you want to display them. For example, is it for framing, a photo book, an Instagram memory poster, or to have them at hand to flick through?

Printing Instagram photos is slightly different to printing non-Instagram photos. When you upload a photo to Instagram, it automatically changes the size of the image to square dimensions. This is important to remember. You don’t want to print your Instagram photos off to find that part of the image has been chopped or has a white border.

So, when choosing your print size, remember to select square dimensions for a perfect photo print. If you’re looking for Instagram photo prints to flick through, Inkifi has Mini Square photo prints and ordinary square photo prints available. Both are suitable for Instagram photos – and they look cool.

It’s hard not to filter a photo when uploaded to Instagram, but please bear this mind when printing them out. Too much filtering can alter the quality of the image.

Filtering – How much is too much?

Who hasn’t added a filter to an Instagram photo? Filters are fine, as long as you don’t overdo it.

Adding a filter to a photo can enhance it and make it look professional, but don’t go crazy with it, as it can be overkill.

Too much filtering does affect the quality of the original photo of the photo, and it can look low-quality and pixilated when printed. It can be hard to tell when you’re looking at the image on your phone but be wary of it. If you’re unsure, then print the photo off normally and decide - at least then you’re not wasting your money or time printing an Instagram photo that’s poor quality. Or, get someone else to look at the picture on a bigger screen, as it's easy to look past imperfections when you’re looking at an image for a long time.
