Photography fascinates me due to its innate ability to capture memories, memories that are otherwise fleeting. Photography gives us the ability to visibly look back on past moments, and that ability is a powerful one.
I am passionate about my faith, my family and friends, and the outdoors. What is great about these passions is that often times, they all come together. For me, that's when I feel like I'm living life to its fullest.
As a photographer, I seek to inspire, encourage, and uplift. To show the world how I see the world.
The Emerald City, where I live, is situated in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. So for me, inspiration is not the issue but rather the kind of inspiration that's needed to pursue greater creativity. In the Instagram community especially, locations up here have become overshot. Not a day goes by where I don't see the same location, the same angle, and scarily similar edit pop up on my feed, posted of course by a different photographer. Now, don't get me wrong, there is nothing inherently wrong with that. But in my situation, I don't want to be known for posting cliche shots that have been done before. My focus in Seattle therefore is to find locations that most photographers overlook and to show a beauty that hasn't been seen yet. It is a tough battle at times, but as I reflect, it is certainly worth it.
